Privacy Policy
Lifebook is designed as a private journaling space. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, authentication identifiers, username, display name, profile photo/avatar, app language, timezone, and optional profile fields you choose to provide.
- Journal content: text entries, voice recordings, transcripts, photos, videos, captions, dates, reactions, shared moments, friend connections, book/chapter metadata, and generated summaries, chapters, or insights.
- Media and files: audio, image, video, avatar, and exported journal image files that you upload or create in the app.
- Location information: if you grant permission, lifebook may save coordinates and derived place labels with entries you create. Location permission is optional.
- Notifications: if you grant permission, we store push notification tokens and platform information so lifebook can send app notifications.
- Device and usage data: app version, platform, language, timezone, limited diagnostic events, media loading events, and technical logs needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
How we use information
- To provide the lifebook app, including journals, memories, photos, voice entries, transcripts, summaries, sharing, friends, and account features.
- To sync your data across devices and protect your account.
- To generate transcripts, summaries, chapters, and other AI-assisted journaling features when you use those features. Relevant content may be processed by our worker systems and AI service providers for this purpose.
- To send notifications you have enabled.
- To troubleshoot, prevent abuse, maintain security, and improve reliability.
Service providers
We use trusted service providers to operate lifebook. These may include Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and server functions; Expo for push-notification infrastructure; OpenRouter and underlying model providers for AI-assisted summaries, chapters, reactions, or reflections; and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim for optional reverse geocoding. These providers process information only as needed to provide the service.
Sharing
Lifebook does not sell your personal information. We do not use your private journal content for third-party advertising. We share information only when needed to provide the service, when you choose to share content with friends or through your device share sheet, when required by law, or to protect lifebook and its users. If you export or share content outside lifebook, recipients and external services may keep their own copies.
Your choices
- You can choose whether to grant microphone, camera, photo library, location, and notification permissions, and you can revoke those permissions in your device settings.
- You can edit or delete content inside the app where available.
- You can delete your lifebook account from the app or request deletion by contacting support.
Account deletion and retention
When you delete your account, lifebook deletes your account, profile, journal entries, daily and monthly summaries, friend/sharing records tied to your account, push tokens, and user-scoped audio, image, video, and avatar files from active systems. Deletion may not remove content you already exported outside lifebook or copies already saved by recipients. Some residual copies may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, or provider systems where required for security, fraud prevention, legal, or operational reasons.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and protect access to your device and email account.
Age
Lifebook is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information to lifebook, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
International processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. We take steps designed to protect information according to this policy and applicable law.
